Faux-Play Trouble

At the moment I’m in the middle of creating a short film to introduce 3 drag characters that I’ve been developing; however I’m starting to have a lot of doubts about it.

The pieces I’ve recorded, the text of written and the characters I’ve created just aren’t really saying anything! They seem to be a random collection of personas for no reason other than because I thought of them. I’m at the stage now where I really don’t want to put any of this up on agorafauxbia.com because it has no substance. Shouldn’t the work that I do have some sort of meaning, or a message, or make a comment on something? Shouldn’t it be based on a concept for exploring through performance? Yes I think that it should, otherwise I’m not going to be happy with it, and neither is anyone else I assume.

SOOOOO now what? Do I scrap all the work and start from the drawing board? Or do salvage some of the decent ideas from the first attempt? I think what I’m going to have to do is start with a concept, a problem, a tension to creatively explore in performance.

Here is an idea, about social validation of our images online. About a body, an image, posted online which quickly begins to fade away because it is not validated by “likes” & “follows”.

More on this concept soon as I workshop it.
